Hey users,

New to pcs and upgrading and am curious about what it requires to upgrade my pc. As I stated in the title, I have a HP Pavilion HPE Desktop that has been refurbished to 8gb and an i5 2.7 gHz processor. I currently have a Radeon HD 6450 and am wanting to upgrade to a newer gpu. I have been suggested to get a EVGA GTX 750TI and it seems to be the "best bang for your buck." I am well aware of the fact that such an upgrade would require another pc upgrade to the power supply, as 300w will not be able to support such a gpu. I am curious as to what power supply you users suggest? I know that the GTX 750TI requires at least 400w and am willing to go up to however much I can get for no more than $80. I am not set on this gpu and if anyone believes a better gpu will work, please go right ahead.

For further specs on my pc, here is the hp link: http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/site/hpsc/template.PAG...

Thanks in advance, please respond ASAP as I am in dire need of a new gpu.

PS: Would it be wise to get an SSD in my circumstances? Is it really worth it if you do not need new memory? (I have 600gb left of 1Tb)

You are on the right track with getting a proper Power supply. The Corsair CX series are a good place to start like the Corsair CX430 can't find a link to it but the CX***M are good because their Modular and easier to manage the cables. Also this one is quite good:http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E1681.... There are others to But most would recommend Corsair and Seasonic off the top of my head

They're not really modular. But yeah, they're better than whatever comes with the prebought machine.

Semi Modular I guess. I have a CX750M but it is not fully modular. the only Plug that comes out of it is the 24pin

Ive read that the company really only puts 400w minimum to ensure no system failures on their behalf, and that the gpu can actually run on a 300w supply. I will try this out and see if the new power supply is necessary. Thanks

Some gtx 750ti's require an additional 6pin power connection. Make sure the version you buy does not.

Hey guys I bought the GTX 750Ti but whenever I put it in and startup it beeps a few times then shuts off. Is there possible conflicting errors between the gpu and my motherboard? If so, what GPUs would work for my mother board? Please help, thanks in advance.

I talked to EVGA and they said my mobo was outdated. Is there a series of GPU that is compatible with my mobo?
