Got a phishing call and thought it was genuine. When I realized it wasn't (they had access remotely to my computer) I hung up and unplugged computer. When restarting I get dialog box asking for password (this computer requires a password). Looked up how to change password(I don't think I ever used one on this computer before) and get thru main steps in safe mode. Then instead of being able to click on admin or getting that prompt I just get the dialog box again. Need help. It's an old Sony laptop but I still wanted to use it for a while.

There is an app in the Ultimate Boot CD 4 Windows that allows you to unlock or recover the password for a Windows XP installation.
It's worth it to have a UBCD4Win laying around anyhow as it's an AMAZING tool for PC repair.
