Install Backup on Seperate/Old drive

Hi guys, I have recently installed an SSD and put a fresh install of Windows 7 on it, I also have a backup image, on an external drive , made through backupper that I want to install onto my old drive to recover some data.

I then want to use the new SSD for poker related software and Postgresql to manage the datebases for poker software, and the old drive for storage and other random programs I want to install.

Recovery of the backup/data is absolutely necessary as I have a massive amount of data that I need to get access to.

How do I get the backup from my external drive, onto my old drive, to recover the data.

The backup file is an AOMEI Backupper backup file.

New SSD is Samsung 840EVO 250gb

Old drive is ST31000524AS 1TB NTFS 7

you can use a program like acronis true image or macrium reflect to clone one drive to the other.just have both drives plugged in.these programs both have free versions that work really well.ive used both as that is how i backup my main drive.

Is it an issue if I only have the back-up file?

All data seems to be wiped as I tried reinstalling windows onto my old drive, had issues installing programs then got BSOD, so went to install on the new SSD without any problems. The only problem is that the data on the old drive only consists of the few programs I installed before BSOD.

OK I managed to back-up my old windows7 setup on the original drive, but now I have two separate windows profiles, one on the hard drive and one on the SSD.

How do I go about using my main HDD for general usage but run certain programs from the SSD, while logged into my original HDD profile?

ok,so your operating system is on your old drive?i would do a clean install of windows on my ssd and then delete the windows files on your old hdd once i knew the ssd was booting to windows properly.any programs you want to run on the ssd can be reinstalled (recommended) or ,i believe,you can copy them from your old drive and paste them on the ssd.im not 100% sure how reliable this last is tho.i would reinstall myself.
