Hello Hektor Konomi, first of all I would like to suggest you if you are going to format your laptop, you should keep back up of your important files and folder so that you can have access to those data after formatting of your computer. In my opinion, you must use Norton anti virus software to keep a distance from virus attacks. I have told you Norton because I also use Norton and I have found it very useful. If you are getting confused regarding which operating system to choose, I would like to suggest you to use Windows 8, as I have used it and found it fine with my works. Sometimes you may feel some difficulties but overall performance of Windows 8 is good. The latest and updated version of Windows 8 is very good. Dear Hektor Konomi, I hope my suggestions will work for you. If you have any query else, do tell me and I will try to solve as per the best of my capacity.

Thanks

Hi Hektor Konomi, I want to add something more in this discussion. If you are going to opt for Windows 8, as per my knowledge you should keep something in your mind like Windows 8 needs CPU of 1 GHz of faster. Moreover, Windows 8 needs RAM of 1 GB and 2 GB for 64-bit systems. It needs 20 GB hard disk. It needs a direct 9 graphic card with WDDM driver. If you use Windows 8, you will find faster star up. You will find many useful apps that will make your work easy. It has SkyDrive integration. You will find Better security and less-intrusive updates. You will find touch input, but Windows 8 is still fine with keyboard and mouse. I hope that my suggestion will be helpful for you.
