Hey folks,

Posted here a few days ago to no avail and had no success in the mean time replacing parts or re-installing drivers.

So left my PC alone for an hour or so and came back to the resolution on my LG Flatron E2211 being rather out of sync. I had not touched the PC or done anything to change any graphics properties.

Upon going into the Screen Resolution settings Windows for some unknown reason thinks that it is a Generic Non-PnP monitor and therefore has reset the resolution. It claims it is in 1024x768 but clearly isn't.

Upon consulting google I have tried various methods such as unplugging it, buying a new adapter for the VGA cable, re-installing the GPU (Radeon 7770H) drivers and various other things to absolutely no avail. I have a HD TV plugged into the HDMI port of the GPU, tried unplugging this as well but to no avail once again. It has basically rendered my monitor completely useless which is pretty annoying as you can imagine.

Could really do with a hand here losing my mind trying to fix this stupid bug.

Cheers,

Paul

Solution
Hi Paul,

First of all, ensure your graphics drivers are all up to date.

Next try this:

1. Turn off the computer and monitor
2. UNPLUG the power for few minutes so that all the capacitors drain in the circuitry of the monitor. You may want to unplug the video cable as well.
3. After few minutes, replug cable and power cord, turn on monitor and reboot computer.

If that didn't work try this:

Open device manager. Expanding Display adapters. Right click on the adapter and then do a "Update Driver Software"

If that still doesn't work, take a look at this link and see if it applies to your situation:

Hope this helps,

BennyJi. No idea what just happened, or how that works but something has triggered it back to its native resolution merely by unplugging the power. Big thanks man!
