Hello there guys,
I'm looking for a new modem router and these 2 have gotten my attention.

Right now I'm using a Netgear DGN2200v1, which has done a good job so far, but it's time for it to retire. One thing I didn't like about this router was the poor qos management feature.

What do you think about these 2 routers? Do you have any experience with them? Can I manage upload bandwidth? In my area the fastest upload speed I can get is 400kbps, which starts being very limited when lots of devices use the internet, especially when your dad often uploads the photos he takes to his onedrive account.

Does either of them have the feature of reserving a certain amount of bandwidth for one user and leave the rest to the others? When the upload bandwidth is saturated, the download speed drastically decreases, making it impossible to play any online games, like bf4.

so what do you think?

Hi,

I'm owned Asus DSL-N66U on 06.03.2014. There is Traffic Manager - QoS. You can manage Upload and Download rate limits and everybody you like :). In percentage or in according to priority. Surf the net to find screenshots of Traffic manager setup. Or just download the manual from Asus:
http://www.asus.com/support/Manual/11/2/DSLN66U/

Can't say anything about Netgear D6300.

If the dsl version of the n66u users the same software as the normal n66u and I am pretty sure it does this router has very advanced QoS. It can even to a point limit the download side which few routers can do. Unlike most routers you can put in hard limits rather than the silly high, medium, low stuff.

I have not looked at the netgear.

The normal solution to QoS is to load dd-wrt or other third party firmware but that tends to not be a option for a dsl router.
