Hi there I have an DVI-I output in my computer and want to hook it up to my old TV. My TV Has a DVI input but i dont have a DVI-DVI cable i do however have a DVI-VGA cable and an adapter (VGA-DVI-A). So i can hook up my pc and TV but the TV doesn't show any picture... My computer however registers 2 screens (3 in total with my computer screen). Anyone stumbled upon this before and if so how to fix it?

Solution
The 2 convertors with one cable is not going to work. DVI is a digital interface and VGA is an analog interface. As it is with this configuration, neither the PC nor the HDTV know how to talk to each other.

You can get a DVI cable, or use a DVI to HDMI adapter and connect to an available HDMI port on your HDTV. It is not going to work with the VGA cable in the middle.
