my computer turns off 3 sec after i turn it on

when i press the power button nothing happens then after re-seating the power supply connections my computer turns on then off 2-3 seconds. i need help. this happened after i reload windows 7 and putting in a new hard-drive. now when i press the power button nothing happens i have a AM3 motherboard

Try removing all the RAM, if it doesn't do some beeping, it's most likely the PSU. If not, try removing the CMOS battery from the motherboard, and pulling the CMOS jumpter for about 10 seconds if there is one (there usually is), then putting it all back and try turning it on again.
 
Check to make sure you did not knock loose any wires (say from the case to the mobo) when installing the drive. If you rechecked those, remove the hard drive, see if that helps. You may have been running so close to the power limit of the power supply that the drive pushed you over. It may also be a bad drive, although that almost never actually causes a system not to turn on, but who knows what electrical havoc a bad drive connecter can cause on the motherboard.

Next step is to try a new power supply if it really does nothing when you push the button at all.
