I recently purchased an HP Envy 700-216 desktop AMD A10-7600 processor. Its specs are identical to the 700-056.

I have an old PNY GeForce 7600gs graphics card that I would like to install in the unit, but each time I try to start the PC with the card installed, it beeps several times and does not start.

How can I find out if the card is compatible with my system and if a PSU upgrade is necessary?

Are you sure you pushed the card in all the way? Did you connect the display to the graphics card instead of the motherboard?

Since the card doesn't need any extra power than supplied by the PCIe slot (the card is PCIe, correct?), it should work. Only thing I can think of is to get a better power supply to see if it would work, but I'm not sure if it will help.

I've double checked to make sure that the card is pushed into the PCIe slot completely, made sure that I connected to the card, but still the same thing.

I know that usually a discrete graphics card is preferred over integrated graphics, but will a GeForce 7600gs with 512MB make an appreciable difference over the Radeon HD 8670D that is integrated on the APU? Is it worth trying a new power supply? I figured that I would install it since I already have the card, but if it will not make a huge difference, I will just stick with the integrated card for now.
