My pc runs on XP sp3, automatically upgraded by microsoft from SP2. So far the task bar notifications were selected as "always show" for the Icons, volume, Avast, and local area net work by the side of numerical clock.. For the past few months they do not all appear at the boot complete and only Avast Antivirus Icon appear very late. The icons are available only after logging off. all of them are after being set for 'Always show". But only Avast stays with the setting and all the remaining slip to past items in the 'properties' of Task bar.I did not detect any malware by downloading MSE and scanning the pac for malware and MSE was later removed as 2 antivirus programmes should not be run .What revised settings are to be made in my PC to enable the Icons selected for "always show " to appear at the first booting , without requirement of logging off the PC?

Only fix I found on XP (crikey, haven't used that dinosaur for ten years!) was to set up the notification tray to show all the icons (that is to say, do not hide any of them).

Never liked any of them to be hidden anyway, but I did weed out any that weren't necessary by removing the related entry from my startup list. That certainly speeds up loading time for those that remain, especially if the amount of installed RAM is borderline.
