Hi to all, I've been having some really annoying problems with the Vista's Service Pack 2, I've tried googling my problems but they all come up with solutions I've already tried. I know that my problem is fairly common, but whenever I am almost done installing Service Pack 2 it says "Installed 3 of 3 updates" which is awesome and I cheered, but then it follows up "Updates could not be installed, reverting the process" thing again and it's really annoying. I'm trying to upgrade so I can get Service pack 3 in order to use a graphics tablet I plan on buying the future. If you can please help me it will be much appreciated.

Edit: Extra Notes --- I've download the right bit to download, and disable my Anti-Virus too.

First, run the update manually and record the error code that will be displayed at the end. Post that error code once you have it.

Second, there is no service pack 3 for Vista, nor will there be one.

1. disable windows update.
2. delete everything from with c:\windows\system32\softwaredistribution\downloads
3. download and install standalone SP2

x86 : http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id...
x64 : http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id...

4. reboot, if it doesn't happen by itself.
5. enable windows updates for any patches needed after SP2.
