I am currently using a Dell Latitude E7440 Laptop with latest Intel graphics drivers installed. I have the laptop with lid closed in a docking station with two LG W2246 widescreen monitors hooked up to the docking station via DVI-D. Both monitors have the latest LG .inf files installed. Docking station is a Dell PR02X.

The problem is that Windows and the Intel Graphics Control Panel will only show a max available resolution of 1280x1024 (which is the wrong aspect ratio) for both LG monitors, yet I'm pretty sure they can do 1920x1080 (that's what it says in the .inf file anyway).

I have both monitors set at 60Hz, maintaining original aspect ratio, extended desktop display (with the laptop lid closed). When I go into the adapter settings and select "List all modes," it still only shows the 1280x1024 resolution as the max available resolution. I have hide modes that the monitor cannot display unchecked.

Any ideas on how to fix this?? I've tried rebooting, unplugging both monitors, reinstalling drivers...

Fixed the problem. I had installed the latest display drivers from the Dell website, but the Intel website had newer drivers.

When I tried to install the drivers from the Intel website, I received an error that said the drivers were not compatible with my hardware configuration (even though I knew they were).

So I went into the device manager, right-clicked on the display adapter and selected update driver software, selected browse my computer for driver software, selected let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer, selected have disk in the bottom right-hand corner, selected browse, and manually selected the latest Intel .inf, rebooted and things have been working ever since.
