Having trouble installing win7 on my hp(g62) laptop. hard drive is not recignizezd on boot up. Cant install win7, system keeps asking me to install a driver. And yes I checked there is a hard drive in the system.

Solution
Oh, and with HP you'll have to run that executable on another machine and then just copy and paste the folder over to your usb drive. from C:/swsetup

I'm guessing that you are installing with a disk that is not HP Branded. You probably need to find the storage controller driver, put it on a USB stick and then install it when it prompts you to do so on the install screen.

If you don't have a driver disc with that laptop, go here to get it:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=4221447

Select the OS and grab the associated storage driver.
