What you need depends on the brand and model of your TV since we need to know what connections it has on it.
If you don't have a smart TV with networking capability, you'll need a media player of some sort, media extender like an XBOX360 or a computer attached to the TV.

If your server and TV support HDMI go that route. If not there are plenty of devices Like this
$7 cord

Both go to the same link, and that VGA to HDMI cable won't work for PC to TV connection. In fact, I don't know of ANY device that it will work with since the makers of those cables only say "must have a digital VGA connection" without specifying exactly what has that. Maybe some satellite TV boxes or something.

WDTV, Boxee Box, Roku, Apple TV. Im a bit disappointed with the WD TV and Apple TV. I'll try Roku next.

Roku has no youtube support and only offers paid services such as netflix, hulu plus, amazon prime and so on. Interface is okay but the platform itself is a bit restrictive and it does not allow for you to play your own files or view them. Really would just get a Raspberry Pi for a tiny media player but to connect your TV to your server wirelessly if that is your desire give this a try

Set up Plex on your computer and watch the movies or play music on the TV with the Plex app on a Roku or Chromecast. The Chromecast is the cheaper option + it lets you stream from the computers browser and your phone or tablet. Plex also lets you stream to your mobile device and if you subscribe, you can stream anywhere there is an internet connection.

If the computer was made in the last 5 years there is probably an HDMI port and if the TV is 7 years old or newer there is probably a VGA port and I've connected too many TV's this way to know it will work
