Kingston HyperX vs Samsung 840 Pro

Hey guys, my system is roughly a year and a half old now and I've been using the Kingston HyperX as my main OS drive the whole time. Everything has been fine this entire time and I've loved my system.

As a birthday present for my self I decided to get another SSD for games and what not, as 120gb for a OS drive and games really isn't that much.

I decided to go with the Samsung SSD 840 Pro. All went well with installing and as soon as I got back into Windows I decided to run the Samsung Magician software to test things out. Here are my results.

So there you have it, pretty signicant difference between the two. I know the spec's are a lot higher for that Kingston and now I'm curious why that benchmark is showing such low numbers. Am I being trolled by this Samsung Magician program or do you guys think I have a problem worth looking into here?

run hdtune and any other ssd benchmark to see if the numbers are right.
with ssd in the last two years there been a lot of ssd that have dropped. the better oem and brand names all use newer sandforce controllers and newer small ram chips on the ssd card. you can see it with the 840 vs 840 evo drives...newer ram chips and firmware. also with your older drive did you ever update the firmware or has there ever been one. vendors like intel and samsung that build the drives inhouse from there own parts have the newest firmware. also with ssd how full it it..drive that too full will slow down do to no room for wear leaving and clean up.

Thanks for the input. I installed hdtune and the numbers were still quite low for the Kingston..

I think I might try to change the SATA port it's connected to on the motherboard. I currently have it connected to the one with SSD caching with the Asus Sabertooth X79...but I'm not even using the feature..so that's prolly fail on my part and I wonder if that is what is causing these low benchmark numbers.
