So recently I made an upgrade to my CPU, from a phenom II x2 545 to a Phenom II X6 T1090.

I have an Altec Basiq power source 550W, and an MSI 770-C45 motherboard, Geforce 660GTX video card, 1 HDD and 1 SSD, 1 DVD-ROM Drive, 8GB of ram (using 4 GB currently )

When I introduced the new CPU, it was saying Unknown CPU, I read on their site that i had to make a BIOS update, so that the motherboard should recognize the new one, ok done that.

I initially had 8 GB of RAM in the PC, but when i changed the cpu, it wasn`t loading anymore. When I would start the computer it would just freeze. When I pulled out 4 GB of RAM it would start, and initially I thought the rams are faulty, even if with the other CPU i haven`t got any problems with them.

Anyway, with the 4 GB of ram, I wanted a clean new install of windows. So I formatted my hard drive and during the instalation I would get 2 errors:

-IRQL not less or equal
-Memory management

A lot of times, but in the end I managed to install it. And sometimes during run I would still get the Memory management error, and after that a lot of blue screen windows errors like Critical_service_ can`t load , and so on.

I Read on the internet that the IRQL not less or equal is related to RAM voltage and the memory management is related to RAM.

Could the problem be that my source can`t get the power enough for my RAM and that can be the problem? When I put 8 GB my computer starts but its freezed, no screen no nothing (not even video signal)

Or could the new BIOS from msi be faulty? Update description : (- Support AMD 6 core CPU.
- Improved memory compatibility. )

What do you think ? I bough the AMD phenom II X6 1090T processor second hand but I don`t think the processor is the problem.

The main 2 things is that it won`t start with 8 GB of ram (maybe because its not enough power from the source ) when I have 4 GB of RAM i get that error from time to time (maybe when the rams are full and the voltage needed exceeds the power of my source) or that BIOS update...

Yes, I made that bios version (1.9) .. I made the upgrade with the old cpu, are you saying I should make another upgrade to 1.f ?

logainofhades: I kept getting that error during windows 8.1 instalation, and right now the only driver I have installed is the Nvidia one from their official site, and the sound driver from the realtek official site

RE: Another IRQL not less or equal Error , I removed another 2 GB of RAM out (so i can see if it is a voltage problem by removing another consumator )

Thanks for the link I will read it and try everything there.

Meanwhile after I've removed the other 2GB of RAM, currently only on 2GB, no more problems occured so far..waiting to see.. if no problems occur in the next hours/days i think the problem is the power source, not enough voltage supplied, and too many consumers, for what it can give me
