I decided to come over to this forum cause many of my problems have been solved here before. I usually have a pretty good knowledge with computers (at least when it comes to AMD) but i have learned that i don't know everything and when i need something answered i come here.

So with that out of the way lets get to my problem.

I seem to be having a problem with keeping my temps low when i run a full stress test on my rig.

My components are as follow:

Case: Cooler-Master Storm Scout 2 (advanced) all fans are CM Sickleflow 120mm red (except for top slots which are empty)

CPU: AMD FX-8350 (running stock due to the temperature factor)

MOTHERBOARD: Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2

GPU: 2 ASUS GTX 660 (non-TI) running sli at slight overclock (they keep cool no matter what i throw at them)

CPU COOLER: CM Hyper 212 EVO (push-pull with stock fan and sickleflow 120 red)

POWER SUPPLY: Cooler Master V850 fully modular psu

I have used good cable management and run all the fans of mobo controller. So here's the deal:

When i run prime95 (small fft's) and furmark (standard burn in test) at the same time my temperatures will go through the roof. Now when i run prime by its self there are no problems (cpu stays about 54 or 55C) and when i run furmark (rather it be with prime or not) my gpu's doesnt see over 68C.

Now the program i use to measure my temperatures (since amd is so awesome at making accurate temp readouts) is Thermal Radar 1.1.29 and from what i have researched you cannot let the cpu temp get over 62C.

The problem is my cooling should be OVERKILL for this. Now i already know that running two gpu's is gonna bring up my temps but it shouldn't be making it go up that high.

So the question is: What can i do to make sure my CPU doesn't overheat when i run a stress test like that?

I'm sorry, what is overheating? A CPU temp of 55 under 100% full load with SLI GPUs is great. The 212 EVO is by NO means overkill AT ALL, it is a budget cooler. The 8350 already runs warmer than its Intel counterparts, so those are great temps.

I appologize let me clarify my cpu is overheating when i run BOTH furmark and prime 95 at the SAME TIME and i know my 212 evo isnt a noctua or a h100i but it still should keep the cpu cool enough to not reach over 60C

i would fit a h100i in this case if i could without it being outside the case and looking like crap.

but yea just wanted to clarify that.

Where in the world did you read the CPU can't go past 62? Thermal threshold isn't until around 90, and there aren't any adverse effects until you get past 80. 62 is great for a 100% synthetic load on an 8350.

Push pull on the EVO doesn't improve cooling , and if you do push pull you need matching fans.

At about 70 degrees celsius , it starts to throttle and eventually shutdown.

I own 3 of them.

Thanks Blackbird also i will look at getting another type of cooler (a noctua from the looks of it) and i will see if i can get it to about 68 before the crap hits the fan on it.

i dont suppose its very good to let it shut down so im gonna avoid that.

your info was very helpfull

No , constant throttling is a bad course of action with your hardware.

Except for top slots which are empty < You should get a couple of top fans to exhaust the hot air out of the case. ,

well i had those in there before but they didn't make alot of difference in temps.

also im out of fan slots on my mobo and a fan controller isnt my preferred idea on that

another fact the top removable panel for the case vibrates like a s.o.b. when it cranks up speed

so im gonna leave those empty cause that would mean 9 fans in my case which is ridiculous.

well im running full load now and temps are setting at about 58C (been running for about 15 min) so it seems all is well here and im gonna mark this thread as solved

thank you blackbird for responding to my question (along with HighTech).
