I've been running a game for a few months and never really had a problem with it. Now, it's constantly lagging to the point it's unplayable. I have a 3 yr old Toshiba laptop with 2 gb of ram. What can I do aside from installing more ram? (Funds won't allow it atm.) Thanks for any help!

What else has changed? New software or hardware? It's rare that a game runs fine once day then shit the next...something else is usually the culprit. Maybe new software that's eating up RAM and processor cycles? Check Task Manager and see, it may be a virus or something.

Nothing else has changed. I sometimes download 3rd party stuff but Norton checks everything and I never had a problem. No new hardware or software either, so that's why I'm here. I opened msconfig to see what else it might be but found nothing.
The game seems to run fine most of the time for a few minutes then the lagging starts.

The memory diagnostic came back clean. I tried to find the chkdsc but can't find it so far.
As of right now, I'm at 50 processes, 30-50% on CPU usage and memory is sitting at 61% and I'm not even doing anything. When I start the game and it begins lagging CPU usage is up around 90-100% and physical is about 85%

There is not much that i know of that you can do without installer more ram, but that computer might not be able to handle more ram even if you get more. My though is that the max ram you could have is probably 4Gb but if you do get more ram make sure it is HARD WARE not a software DOWNLOAD!

I've seen some of the same model laptop that ppl have upgraded to 8 or16GB 16GB of ram, but I wouldn't need all that. I think I would only as far as an additional 2GB. For the most part it seems fine with 2 but increasing to 4 would be more than enough.

yea, than you could at least allocate a little bit more ram to the games, but i think you might need more than 4 gigs. Personally what i think is best is to get 6-8 gigs and give you game 2-4 GB of ram.
