Hi I'm building my own computer for the first time.
Specs: 4770k, Asus Maximus Hero, 250 GB Samsung 840 EVO, GTX 780 (or 770 haven't decided yet)
RAM: I found a 2x4 G.Skill Ripjaws X Series @ 1866 MHz (CAS 8) for $90. Is this a good deal, and is 8 GB enough RAM for gaming?
Power Supply: I've decided I want a Corsair AX power supply. But I'm not sure whether the 760 watt or 860 watt would be better for me, as I may want to SLI in the future. The 760 watt is $50 cheaper but if the 860 would be better for me and last longer I'd glay buy it.
Lastly, should I buy a GTX 770 or 780? ($160~ price difference worth it?)

the ram is enough for gaming as if you get 16gb you wont use the other 8gb just make sure it is 1.5v as the memory controller is only rated to handle 1.575v. your psu is fine 860w for sli and the ax series is a goodline of psu for corsair dont get cx/rm/some gs series. if you have the money go with the 780. you should always get the largest card you can afford before considering a sli setup and for 1080p gaming 780 dhould be all you need for a while to achieve max settings

your system power draw with sli 780 would be 54.66a on the 12v rail the 860w would push 71.6a on the 12v rail more than enough

Yes I checked for the appropriate voltage for the RAM i listed and it checked out at 1.5v. Honestly I think I will go for the gtx 780 along with the AX 760 and not SLI in the near future since my 780 should last

that would be the best selection the 780 is great for maxing 780 and by the time you will want to sli you might want to just get a new card anyway as the gpus 2 years from now will probably have the performance of 2 780

Sorry for my lack of computer knowledge but could you explain what you mean by that last statement. The ax 760 would be 54.66a on the 12v rail? That means its not powerful enough to run 2 780s or?
Edit: Yeah that's what I was thinking, just sticking to one card and then selling it and upgrading 3-5 years from now

760w is more than enough for 1 780 and i would go with the 860w for sli 780 as it has more thanenough amperage to handle sli or if your only going with a single card setup you can go with a xfx psu 550w or 650w

Alright, I will look at the xfx psu's as I'll likely just stick to one card. Thanks a lot for your help mate!
