Hello,

I recently purchased a Dell XPS 8700 and I am looking to upgrade my graphics card, so I do not have to purchase a Xbox One to play Titanfall, but I digress.

So far, I am considering either the:

1) EVGA Geforce GTX 760 Superclocked w/ ACX cooler 2gb
EVGA Geforce GTX 760 Superclocked w/ ACX cooler 2gb

2) ASUS GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU II Edition Graphics Card
ASUS GeForce GTX 670 DirectCU II Edition Graphics Card

First let me point out, that it has been a very long time since I have even cracked open a computer, but I am very capable. In addition to doing plenty of research, I was hoping I could use you guys for guidance.

So, my questions, so far:

1)Are these more than adequate for moderate gaming on high settings, for today's newest games?

2) Are there any other cards I should be considering around the $250 range? AMD? I am not looking for a fanboy answer, but what is the major difference?

3) From what I have found, it seems that these two cards will fit in my computer. Right?

4)What is all this talk about 8 pin and 16 pin? Is this the pci-slot? What do I need for my system?

5) Do I need to upgrade my power supply? If so, what recommendations do you guys have. Also, what is the difference in prices? Meaning, a 550W power supply at $$$$$ vs. a 550W power supply at $$, what are the differences.

6) Lastly, what do you guys recommend I research as far as graphics cards, installation, etc. I would like to know a lot about what I am purchasing.

PS: Let me know what other information I could provide you guys with to get the best possible answers.

Thank you in advanced,

-Matt

The 760/670 are essentially the same card since 760 is a superclocked rebranded 670. I am pretty sure that model comes gtx 660 amd I won't recommend an upgrade to 760/670. As for power supply, 550w should be enough for any of these cards. AMD cards right now are priced too high. If the rig comes with gtx 660, I would recommend a gtx 780, otherwise the upgrade won't be worth it. Otherwise, it's a great upgrade to GTX 760 since it's one of the best values at 250.

Unfortunately my system did not come with a Geforce GTX 660. Mine came with a Nvidia Geforce GT 635. So you would suggest upgrading to either a 760 or 670?

I appreciate the insight,

-Matt

Hey, have the same XPS with a GT635 and am thinking of doing the same thing. How did the upgrade go?
