What's limiting my computer?

specs:
Intel i7 Q 740 @ 1.73GHz
6GB RAM
AMD Radeon HD 6500M/5600/5700 Series
Windows 7

I need to clean it out, it overheats sometimes when I'm playing games and I'm sure it's super dusty. I'm trying to play some multiplayer games and it runs them well except when other people are too close to me, then it lags, which really makes it difficult to pvp. I don't know if there is much I can upgrade but out of curiosity, what is the limiting factor for performance here?

The lag you see when other live players are around you is caused by the CPU not being powerful enough to push the GPU and the CPU information. It could also be throttling because of heat caused by dust. Grab one of those duster cans or a leaf blower and clean that thing out! :)

I have two recommendations:
1. You go get yourself a new Graphics card.
2. You change the PSU. (Power Supply Unit.)

It might be that your computer just isn't 'built' for games, and its more for other things. The two things I would definitely go for is getting a new PSU and a graphics card.

Going to be rather difficult considering its a laptop. The i7 740Q is a laptop cpu and 6500m in the graphics description also indicates a laptop.
