When somebody downloads anything in the house, or streams something like netflix, their one computer uses all of our bandwidth. 2 people in the same house can't watch netflix at the same time because of this. How can I "throttle" so, that when 1 person downloads something, they don't hog all of the bandwidth for everyone else. I have general knowledge o my router and Modem, but not much, so an easy fix or method is appreciated.

You actually need a fairly advanced router. The simple QoS some routers have likely will not solve your problem. You can load dd-wrt on a router but you will need some of the better asus or tp-link routers that have the ability to set a download limit to a fixed amount of data/sec. Many routers can do the upload but the key feature is the download limit.

Problem is you are likely going to break netflix when you do this. You have to pick a certain amount of bandwidth for netflix to use and if 2 people would try they likely both would get horrible results. You other traffic though should be able to use the remain bandwidth.
