I've been running my nvidia GTX 770 graphics card for a while now, and every once and a while I get something that looks like this in multiple games, such as in Batman Arkham Origins.

This happens often in batman when I hit ALT + TAB. It has also happened in sleeping dogs.
I've tried re-installing the driver version and I checked if it was the latest version.

My specs:
Nvidia GeForce GTX 770
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4700k CPU@ 3.90GHz
16.00 GB RAM
resolution: 1280 x 1024, 75Hz
Driver version: 334.89
OS: Windows 8.1

It could be an issue with the graphics card if it happens with more than one game. If it is a new card or has always happened with it, it is for sure a defective card, probably something with it's RAM.

On a side-note, why the heck do you have a GTX 770 if you are running at 1280x1024??

what the brand and size of your power supply. a bad or under sized unit will cause gpu issue too.

The power supply is 800 Watts. I got a replacement and was having the same problem only in a minor aspect.

I'm saving up for a new monitor. Also, I got a new one and I've been having the same problem but less severe.

If you got a new GPU and the issue still persists, you either got a second faulty card, or something else is wrong, which i think is more likely. I can't say for certain, but I believe that there is either an issue with:

1.Your Windows installation possibly being corrupted (lower liklihood if other functions work fine)
2. Your game install is corrupted, and needs a reinstallation
3. Something is wrong with your CPU (lower probability, but still entirely possible)
4. Your system is overheating while gaming
5. You are running too much of an overclock (or sometimes any overclock is too much)

I had the same issue as #5 in Battlefield 3, when my memory and core speeds on my GTX 770 was clocked too high (yes, by me). I got lots of screen artifacting, strange DirectX warnings popping up pertaining to BF3, and eventually the game crashing.
