i have deleted drive d: instead of formatting it, while installing windows8.. then i lost the drive d: ,the free space it is been allocated into new drive i:
can i know which software to use for recovering my files in the deleted drive d:

here is a list of programs that are mostly free and the top one, Recuva, looks like a real winner. It should be an easy fix assuming you haven't written to much new data on the drive :p

Later you can then go through Administrative Tools>Disk Management to change the drive letter assignment of the drive back to D: if you prefer.
