Hey guys, building my pc right now and for some reason my ripjaw x 2x 4gb ram does not fit onto my motherboard.... I have no idea why. I tried every method I could think of and it just doesn't clip onto it....

Currently using the nzxt 410 chasis. I also have no idea where the "hd audio, H.D.D LED, +P LED, - P LED" goes on the maximus hero. Does anyone have the hero? and can point it out to me

Im guessing the blue one is USB 3.0? i have no idea what the other one is. It has 4 slots but 3 pins + wires.

Read the user guide plenty of times and I am still clueless after doing some research, googling, but i haven't came here yet!!

I also tried installing h100i onto the case... with the mobo installed.. back pains! Should i remove the mobo and install the h100i first? Or is 2-3 screws on each fan sufficient enough? I can't reach the corner one on both fans because there is no space or the screw doesn't go in properly.

Solution
Firstly I'll answer the mysterious wire question.
It goes to fan controller located on the case. You plug your fans into a 3 pin cable (probably located on the right side if facing the front of the case), If not it will be dangling with the front panel and USB 3.0 connector cables.

Now to answer the ram problem.
Push both tabs on either end of the ram slot down and away.
Make sure the notch on the ram stick matches up with plastic bit located inside the ram slot on the motherboard.
Slide ram down into the slot and put firm pressure on both corners of the ram stick.
You will hear a satisfying 'click' sound and the tabs will pop. (sometimes its a 'thnk' sound)
If you feel you're putting to much pressure and might break something. Then...

Thanks for the quick reply much appreciated. Yes i am using ddr3 1866 ripjaw x series. There shouldn't be any problem.. but the 2 sticks doesn't fit. I can pull it out easily even if i put a little force onto the ram while trying to stick it in there.

Two different angles of the mysterious wire!

firstly are you putting the ram in the right way?

Are you pulling those clips out putting the ram in, then clicking them in so it locks the ram in place?

-If non of that works, you ram may be slightly manufactured wrong to prevent it from slotting in place. You will probably have to return the ram and hope for the best, if it is still persistent it is a problem with the slot itself on the motherboard.

Sorry, I assumed you knew it was related to the case. The wire is part of the case. The only wire i know where it goes on the motherboard are the usb 3.0 and the fan controller. If you want to look at the NZXT 410 manual, you really don't want to look at it but i will happily upload a photo.

Yes i was putting the ram in the correct way but i think i just solved my problem. I placed case on it's side and tried to insert the ram once more. I gave it a little push and wiggled it and I heard it click!

Firstly I'll answer the mysterious wire question.
It goes to fan controller located on the case. You plug your fans into a 3 pin cable (probably located on the right side if facing the front of the case), If not it will be dangling with the front panel and USB 3.0 connector cables.

If you feel you're putting to much pressure and might break something. Then try pushing on one side of the stick and get that tab to pop up, then work on the other side.

It also helps if we know how your ram doesn't fit.
Is it to tall? To wide? Does it conflict with any parts in the case? Does the notch not line up?
If the ram heat-spreaders are getting in the way they can be removed.

About your h100i.
You mount the cooler to the top of your case then you attach the cooling block to the cpu. For something like a radiator I would use as many screws as you can. However you should be fine with using 2 screws to attach the radiator to the case, and 4 screws for the fans. 2 screws for each fan.

Yes blue header is the USB 3.0
It cannot plug into anything else on the board.

USB 2.0 on the other hand make sure you don't plug that into the FireWire header.

For the front panel connectors please consult your motherboard manual. If you threw it out already shame on you. Go grab an online copy from the motherboard's website.

In my case the USB 2.0 and front panel headers were right next to each other. I accidentally plugged the front panel connectors into the USB 2.0 pins. Watch out for confusing stuff like that.

Other than everything else should be like a children's "learn the shape" toy. You know where they have a circle, square, and triangle and you have to put them into the proper sized holes.

The HD audio looks like a USB 2.0 header but if you look at the holes on the cable where the pins go you will see they are different.

I will say this again. If you don't know where to plug cables in on the motherboard. Read The Manual. That's why it's there. You cannot skip reading the manual on a motherboard unless you have already worked with that motherboard before and you remember where everything goes.

All other manuals can be thrown out. No don't really throw them out. sometimes they contain important information like compatibility issues and warranty information. Keep the driver disks too. You will need to pull the ethernet/lan drivers off the disk to get internet access. unless you have a second PC and a USB flash drive so you can ferry the drivers over.

Any other questions?
We're here to help.

Yes it is the VI Hero.

Nevermind I believe the HD audio wire goes to AAFP on the mobo. So when would i use the SPDIF_OUT? Cha_fan1 2 and 3?
And the CPU_FAN is for the h100i?

Thanks guys I really appreciate the help. Also for the SATA wire that links my harddrive does it matter which molex I use? There is one connected with the one that goes with the psu and one short molex and another connecting to it. And i don't have to use the 6 pin on the harddrive?

Follow the manual for the connecting the H100i. the h100i manual that is

Usually they want you to ignore the CPU fan header on the mother and use their adapters to connect directly to the power supply.
If i remember correctly this cooling unit can connect to the computer via USB. That software will control the pump speed. Most liquid coolers are quiet enough that you don't need speed controls. Compared to the rest of the case fans that is.

SPDIF_out is the bleeper speaker. it is not necessary but is helpful when trying to diagnose serious problems. It's mainly used to provide a BEEP when you power on the system and BIOS comes up.

Yep all those connections you listed sound good, and the cpu fan goes to the H100i, And It doesn't matter which molex you use. 6pin is for graphics card and not for HDD, don't do that, use the SATA 6GB/s ports on your motherboard for that and appropriate power connection.

Ah so much knowledge! Alright, Im going to reinstall the cooler in the afternoon. The bottom right hole for the left side and the bottom right side of the radiator doesn't let me screw in easily. The other holes are fine, smooth, no problems at all. I was wondering it was alright to use just two nails for each fan corner. I pretty much gotten all the information i need but what does cha_fan1, 2 and 3 do? Is it for the case fan and i just plug it in there?

Thanks for the tip. I was sitting here dumbfounded because none of the SATA cables had a 6 pin for the HD drive earlier.

Those are most likely the cables that connect to the case's fan controller.

My Raidmax Orion case has a similar feature.
I have 6 cables that connect to 2 controllers. One for fans the other for LED. Though the LED controller can serve as a fan controller also.
