Here's a funny idea I have been toying around with for a while now. I'm the kind of person who moves around on a semi-regular basis ( every half-year or so ) and as such I need to take my computing power with me. Now, so far I have used laptops to fulfill this role however after the initial move they just sit around effectively being a crappy desktop.
See, I'm a gamer, I enjoy them and I have found myself constantly hamstringed by them. They are expensive for what you get, run hot, and don't last very long. Buying a new PC every half year is out of the question, I don't have that kind of budget, and regular tower options are simply too bulky to take with you as carry-on, and too fragile to send as checked luggage.
Thus I'm looking for a case that is compact and portable enough to take with you as carry-on luggage, or even inside it. Yet, has the ability to run a serious CPU and graphics card. Essentially a really portable LAN case.
In my search for such a thing I did come across the Asrock M8 barebones system which has a really nice formfactor to it, I like that it's fairly flat, the cube-oid shape of most LAN pcs make them fairly non-viable as a checked luggage item.
However as a barebones it's a bit on the expensive side for what you get with the case, I'd like to see what else is available out there and I rather enjoy the AMD CPUs as they offer good performance for the amount of money invested.
Screens keyboards and mice are not an issue for me, they are either really portable or they are fairly inexpensive and easy to sell on the second hand market.
Anyway, a slightly wierd thing that I have not been terribly successfull at finding a solution to.
