I am changing my mobo whichh is intel socke 775 with intel core 2 quad 6600 to asrock h61m-vs motherboard. My problem is the motherboard is socket 1156 will the core 2 quad fit on the I series board.

No, LGA775 and LGA1155 are physically different. The CPUs are not compatible.

If you want to use an LGA1155 board, you'll need an LGA1155 chip. These are called either Sandy Bridge or Ivy Bridge.

Nope. It will not fit. Any particular reason why you want to use a socket 1156 motherboard? That is only compatible with 1st generation Core i3/i5/i7 released back in 2008.

Oops, yeah. Same story goes for 1156, though.

I'd strongly recommend getting at least an Ivy bridge chip, and probably Haswell. Or jump the fence to AMD FM2+.
