OK, I have a Qosmio x870 laptop and I want it to use the NVIDIA graphics card at all times.
I don't care about power consumption since I always use my laptop plugged in.
Optimus is a great idea by NVIDIA, but they should have made an option to disable it.

I'm using Windows 8. I looked it up and I was able to access the UEFI, however, I could not find any options that had to do with graphics card. I also tried disabling Intel integrated graphics in the device manager, but it just ended up switching to Microsoft Basic Display Driver instead of the NVIDIA GPU.

Any help would be much appreciated.

There should be an option in the bios to disable Intel graphics. My guess is that Nvidia Optimus is active to save you power which consists of only using high end mobile video card when necessary.

Well I couldn't find any option in my BIOS that had anything to do with graphics for some reason.
Also like I said, I dont care about power consumption, I just want my laptop to use it's NVIDIA GPU at all times.

I'm having the same problem with an Asus M11BB tower. The integrated graphics is running alongside the GPU :/
