Is it worth to change i5 4670k to i5 4690 (new haswell cpu refresh) ?

Solution
Yes, your CPU is fine. It would be pointless going from an unlocked CPU to a locked CPU with a slightly higher clock speed, which you can get from overclocking your current chip anyway.

Stop looking for reasons to upgrade your machine. You said it yourself - the new chips are HASWELL REFRESH. It's the exact same chip but with freaking 100 more mhz.

I expect that you have already overclocked your CPU, because if you didn't then why the hell did you even buy the K edition chip. Why am I mentioning overclocking? Well it's simple, do you actually think that these "new" chips will make any difference at all? No, I can garantee you now that you won't see any difference between the two chips except their initial default stock speeds.

This is just Intel getting a new grasp on the market, their chance to change prices around a little. If someone is getting a new CPU from scratch, then yes the new chips will probably be a better buy, presuming that they are priced the same (?). But for upgrade from 4670K?

Hi guys, It s me again.. Just to let know i read that new haswell refresh CPU will require ( if you plan to overclock CPU) a new Z99 chipset.. The socket will be the same 1150... So anyway I f i want a buy new haswell refresh cpu I must buy motherboard too.. :(

There's no point at all. The 4670K is already an amazing chip.

It would be conceivable to "upgrade" to the 4690k when that does come out from a 4670k, if you don't want to delid and you REALLY want to overclock as much as possible. Practically speaking that would still be a waste of money though.

Going to a 4690 would be a dramatic waste of money. Just "overclock" your 4670k by 100 mhz and enjoy your new 4690

You cannot overclock an i5 4690 more than a few hundred MHz. If you want to overclock you need a K series CPU. The i5 4690K is expected to release around early June, but I don't believe it's been officially announced, at least not that I have seen.
