Hey guys, i'm going to build my first gaming PC within a week.

Just a quick question. How would this build be able to run games?
Modern games, on high/highest settings?
Just wondering the gaming capabilities this build has.

Thanks guys. :)

Thermaltake OEM W03940/W0410NA 500Watt PSU

You could do high on some settings, But your GPU isn't the best to max out everything. A GTX 760 would be best but I understand if you can't fit that into your budget. I would actually consider getting a R9 270 instead, as for the price difference I think it is worth it and it'll do quite a bit better in games.

In that note, the PSU sounds like a deathtrap, thermaltake are known for making bad PSU's and the one you have is one of them. Best to stick with Corsair/XFX/Antec and Seasonic, they are the ultimate PSU's and you can get some really good cheap ones.

Its a nice mid range GPU, but you wont be playing everything on high/ultra (unless its older or less demanding games).

However its still very capable. Look at Crysis 3, a very demanding game, but the 750ti plays it well on medium settings:

Less demanding game like Grid 2, you can max out the settings and still play at good frame rate

Are there any components you recommend switching around for about the same price but for better performance?
For example, cheaper motherboard to make extra cash for a GPU. etc.

Not really. You could go lower on the CPU, but I wouldnt. That is a nice CPU which will be good enough for games for ages, and you can always upgrade the Graphics card in a year or two if you need, but the CPU will still be good enough.

Good, moderate budget build. Suggestions (except the PSU that everybody agree on):
1. Get 1600 DDR3 - the price is the same as 1333 and it will be faster.
2. You can go lower on the case. http://pcpartpicker.com/part/nzxt-case-s210001 is often recommended for budget builds.
3. You can go higher on the GPU (660, 760)
750TI is nice CPU but you will play 1080p@medium for most new games.

Solution
You can't really change much besides do a little swapping from Intel CPU to AMD CPU, then that leaves room for a better graphics card which in turn will do a better job then i5 4440 and GTX 750Ti, you could get a FX 6300 and GTX 760. I would personally take a FX 6300 and GTX 760, as you will get better game performance from it for a similar price.
