Recently I had my computer crash, and I can't figure out the problem. It completely freezes when i start my virtual machine (VirtualBox). I reinstalled OS and it didn't solve the problem. I tried vmware and same thing happens. The only thing that worked is Win7's virtual xp but that's not what I want to use. I tried to use different virtual hard disk (VHD instead of VDI) didn't work. Someone please give me a clue. I am very good with computers but I can't figure this out. Computer was working fine for almost a year till a few days ago. Thank you,

My setup
Win 7 Ultimate
Asus M5A78L-M LX3 board (Onboard Video)
AMD FX8350
3 HDs (total 2TB)
400 Watt PS
4GB Memory

Check the computers performance

Press 'Ctrl + Shift + Esc' (This will bring up Windows Task Manager) > Run 'Virtual Box'

How much Memory is being used before you lauch 'Virutal Box'?
How much Memory is being used after you lauch 'Vitural Box'?
What is your CPU Usage before and after launch?

Try doing a repair on 'Virtual Box'.

Start > Control Panel > Programs and Features > Highlight 'Virtual Box' > Repair

If the option isn't there try installing 'Virtual Box' again and it should prompt for repair.

Run S.M.A.R.T. test, Memtest, etc. Do a complete performance test on your computer and see if it is throwing any errors. Check your minidump folder for minidumps and post them here via OneDrive (formerly SkyDrive) or other file upload services. I'll ask around and see if anyone with more expertise can help on the matter.
