Hi, Since my old laptop had issues with starting up, I decided to format it and upgrade it to windows 8.1

Initially, I had like 5 partitions

1 said system (it was about 100mb)

2 said primary partition (C and D)

1 said OEM? (about 14GB)

And a unallocated one (0 MB)

When I formatted C and tried to install windows 8.1 on it, it said it can't continue because they can't locate it or something..

When I restart the computer it said its missing OS

So I cleaned up D too, and none of it works still

Decided to delete every partition I have and remake C and D

when I deleted tjhem all and remake C and D, about 365 GB and 550 GB, the installation did continue,

but then after windows 8 installed, it says it will restart but the screen keeps flashing ( keeps restarting ) and never actually starts up...

Did I do something wrong??

At the moment, if I erase every possible partitions I have

Drive 0 Unallocated Space - 931.5GB
and
Drive 1 Unallocated Space - 7.5GB

And I can't Erase or format those drives..

How should I divide the partitions to make it right?? Have I erased an important partition??

I have a samsung laptop

Someone please help me,, I can't afford a new one and I need to fix this D:

What's the problem and exactly how do I complete installing windows 8? It's a legal one

Thank you very much

Err much as I hate to say it but you have not actually created a partition at all.
Simply because the over all size of drive zero is Unallocated at 931.5gb.

You cannot format a drive when no partition exists or is unallocated.

Hi light the drive in windows setup and select new.
Set the partition size or a portion of the overall drive size you wish to create.

An example the drive is 931gb. put that value in and you have a single partition of 931gb in size.

Now say you wanted two, then the value as you click new say first partition 300Gb.

Create another partition by clicking on new again.
second partition size 631Gb in size.

All unallocated space used for partition one at 300Gb
And partition two of 631gb.

Click ok
Partition is created, re select and click format, select Ntfs or Gpt.

I actually did exactly what you said

I have

Drive 0 Partition 1 - 360GB

Drive 0 Partition 2 - 580 GB

Drive 1 Partition 1 : system reserved - 350 MB

and I tried to install it on Partition 1 and it sets up, install and everything

but then after that, when it automatically restarts, it keeps flashing, never bringing up the desktop

So I have to force shutdown by holding down the button and when I restart, the installation progress starts all over again

What do you mean by Ntfs or Gpt??? I never got asked to choose these
