Hi, I'm sure this has been asked a few times, basically what are the major differences performance wise in Windows 7 and 8.1, but I just want to post my own take on it and see what people have to say
I have experience with only 8.1 for gaming, not Windows 7, but I have more experience with Windows 7 outside of gaming. I have not tested Windows 7 on my new computer and I am really considering putting it on it because what's the point of Windows 8 if you are just going to be installing a start menu and bypassing the Metro on start up, basically why have it if it's not utilised.
Now back to my question, is there any major performance difference in Windows 7 and 8.1? I've read mixed opinions, some games may perform better than others and things like that. They also so that Windows 8 is more optimised and less of a resource hog than Windows 7 BUT if I was to switch to Windows 7 and disable Windows Aero feature, fix indexing, apply some registry tweaks and disable some services, would Windows 7 really be that much of a resource hog then once all that is applied, compared to Windows 8.1?
I would really like some people with lots of experience to share their thoughts on this, taking everything I said into account.
My Specifications are:
AMD FX-6300 Six-Core 3.5Ghz
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P ATX AM3+
Memory: G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600
HDD: Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM
GPU: MSI GeForce GTX 760 2GB
Case: Zalman Z11 Plus ATX Mid Tower
PSU: XFX 650W
