badges don't work properly?

i'm trying to set my graphics card expert badge on my profile but it doesn't work. If I set it as status, it takes me to a blank tomshardware page and just sits there. When I go back to previous thread I answered on, I see the badge listed on some, but not all threads and it wont show up on any new posts.

The status sets it below your avatar. On mine this should say Moderator.

The badges to the right of your user name show up if there's the appropriate tag on the thread.

Ok thanks. That expalins why its only on some. One more thing, I saw someone who had "graphics card master" below their avatar. Is that related to the badge or something different?
  3. That's what it would show up as, but in your case you haven't got the Master badge yet. It would only be 'Graphics Card Expert' (yes, I think the badge names are kind of stupid, too).

That shows up regardless of the thread.

Well cool then. Im on my way to getting that title under my avatar. Considering I got the first level in a week, it shouldnt take too long.
  5. You should still be able to set the expert badge as your status, though.

The higher-level badges take a LOT longer. It's 5 BAs to be Expert, then 20 to be Authority, and 50 to be Master.

True, but I've gotten 21 best solutions in a week and they spread out pretty evenly across multiple badges. 5 of them went to graphics, which means that if I keep up the pace, id be master in about 3 months :)
  7. This account should have the badge 'At home' set as it's status.

Which it is. I tried setting any badge as status with chrome and nothing is working. I'll download chromium and try that browser.
  9. There shouldn't be any fundamental difference between the browsers.

Are you sure you're clicking on the link, and not copy+pasting the target or any other method? Not set to open in new tab/window by default?

I'm going to my profile, clicking on the "set as status" button. When the page finishes loading, its just a blank page. i saw you set your status on the second account easily, but even though I have the same badge, i cant do the same.
  11. Ok. Now I'm confused. I went to a different PC, clicked set as status, and it worked. No popup. no different window. no blank page. how? These PC's are almost identical. Only difference is that one is windows 8 and the other is windows 7
  12. Which one didn't work? I set that one using Kubuntu.

I'll have to have a go with my Win7 testbed, but getting access to Win8 is a little more difficult.

Windows 8 worked. My win7 build didnt. They have the same version of chrome and neither had any type of popup blocker. Both used the same apps. I'm doing some more research as to why this happened.
  14. Should now have Wiki added, using Chrome on Win7.

Yeah it works. Im still trying to find out why my one PC just doesnt want to do it. I guess its not that important. I can always grab my win8 OS and do it.

This is a bit late, but I've posted about this issue before as well. I've found that using Adblock is a primary cause of the blank page. Disabling it on Tom's remedied the issues I've been having around the site.
