I apologize in advance, but I am not very technically sound. I'm at my wits end and I don't know what else to do. We recently got Countour from Cox, which lets us record 6 shows blah blah blah. Well ever since it has been installed, whenever I run something big, IE a game, on my pc it loses signal to two of the TVs in the house. They lose their signal and anything being DVR'd. We have had Cox out here 3-4 times and they are stumped. They want us to rewire everything, but that would end up being really expensive. If any of you have input or any questions feel free to ask. I'm sure I'm leaving out vital info for a solution.

first off did they check the wire to the house from the street and the connection to the home is it tight and not rusted.
in the house is the cable modem on the first splitter and did they change the splitters to newer digital ones. some of the older ones will block out digital signal. if you can try and remove some of the splitters if you can and use one with a few ports when the line comes into the house.

I assume this contour settop box connects to the internet to download the shows either via wireless or and Ethernet cable. My first thought is, are you playing multiplayer games? If so, it maybe hogging the bandwidth if there quite internet intense games or if you up have a very slow download speed. Go to speedtest.net and do a quick check, if its below about 2Mb/s or especially below then you should expect poor performance.

The download speed from the site came to 5.44Mbps. I am playing multiplayer games. Anything I can do to fix this?

That appears to be a sufficient speed, although you may expirence some lag or juttering during game play, I'm not quite sure how this box works though, do the movies get downloaded to the set top box or your PC?
