I read a very similar thread about this, but I was not sure if it still applied to this model from HP.

I need a replacement mobo for my HP p6313w's faulty and unreliable M2N78-LA (Violet6).
As cheap as possible without getting a piece of junk that will fail.
And the above link is a link to the specs of the motherboard and the computer.

I have a question about this computer. If I wanted to take out the processor thats in it, and replace it with a much much better one, is that possible or not? Being an OEM prebuilt in a factory? The motherboard is already dead, so I have to replace that. But would like to get a processor later in next year.

Now I can recommend you a motherboard that can suit your current setup without any problems, or a new motherboard that supports a new socket if you wanted to get a better processor, since you are considering a much better one. If you had a CPU in mind, just tell us the socket and CPU, and I'll gladly search a motherboard for you and your needs for a great price.

The only problem is, I am just wanting to get my computer going as is. Not to upgrade until maybe 6 to 10 months from now. But I wish to get it running as is immediately.

Good thing is with your current CPU, is that it is socket AM3, so if you want to get a 970 motherboard, you will be able to get one of AMD's FX processors, i.e. FX 6300 later on, which would be a very good upgrade for the price when you consider upgrading your CPU later on.

Before I suggest a motherboard; Could your PSU as I couldn't find it on your link. It'll help determine which motherboard will work and will be able to be connected.

I replaced the psu with a 500w corsair 80 plus gold when I replaced the graphics card a while back. And your idea, I really like. I just want something reliable that I might be able to upgrade the cpu later on if I chose.

For features, all I need is support for the stock cpu that originally came, support for an upgraded one, and pci 2.0 as I have a GForce gtx 550ti I would like to put in it from before my original mobo blew up.

$30, It will be close to impossible to find a new one that'll work for your old processor and upgraded one if you ever wanted to. I could look for second hand/refurbished motherboards and they'll be cheaper, otherwise your going to have to spend around $80 on a new , good motherboard

Even with $100-$300 I can't find one for both? Why is that? No offense, I am not questioning ur knowledge but that just confuses me lol, I know nothing about computer hardware.

Sorry for delay. It will allow a gtx 550ti or other upgraded card? I can live with my current 550ti.i had it in the stock mobo. But I would like to upgrade later as well. The card I want is pci 3.0 but I've read there isn't a speed difference yet with 3.0 into 2.0

there is no differential, 3.0 and 2.0 perform exactly the same, if they are both in X16, just 3.0 has improved BIOS and all, but no difference in performance.

That said the motherboard i listed has a PCI-E 2.0 X16 Slot, enough for any upgraded card and will perform exactly the same to a 3.0 X16 slot.
