Hello Friends,

Sometimes my taskbar disappears and then reappears after 2 seconds, when this happens the DVD drive also makes the loading sound like when you insert a CD. I checked action center problem reports and found some problem reports related to the error. Three of the most recent reports are:

Solution
If corrupt files are found that can’t be fixed, try

Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

Re-run SFC

To view CBS Log

findstr /c:"[SR]" %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log >sfcdetails.txt

Search C drive for sfcdetails.txt or navigate to C:\Windows\System32 and scroll down.
disconnect the CD from the system and reboot... any issues?

It could the CD or the controller... On older systems the controllers can fail. causes all sorts of odd issues.

Also got into the properties of your C: drive and do the error checking. check both boxes and reboot... It will take it from 30 minutes to a couple of hours to look thru and repair the drive. (5 stages)

There is no CD in the DVD drive but I think you're right because sometimes the DVD tray ejects randomly but i didn't think that could affect the operating system. I will try to see if i can remove the dvd drive from the computer to see if the problem still occurs. I have already run chkdsk and sfc /scannow.chkdsk found nothing, but sfc /scannow reported: "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them. Details are included in the CBS log windir\logs\CBS\CBS.log. Note that logging is currently not supported in offline servicing scenarios. ".

When i try to open the CBS log file it says 'access denied'. It is a text document, how can i open it so i can post it's contents for you to see?

I managed to get the contents of the CBS log file from sfc scannow and this is what is says:

Do you have AutoCAD or any other Autodesk products that installed Autodesk 360?

See: http://feedback.autodesk.com/cloudservices/topics/autodesk_desktop_companion_cause_explorer_app_to_crash

According to http://www.m2t.com/blog/tips-and-tricks/autodesk-2014-installing-new-products.html you can also resolve this by updating Autodesk 360 to a newer version.

Latest security update is here: http://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/downloads/caas/downloads/content/autodesk-360-desktop-security-update.html

One of my clients has been experiencing this same issue. I'm trying the update in that last link now, and will rename out the culprit .dll as suggested in the first thread I posted if that doesn't work.
