This will be my first full build. I am in Japan, so research took a while, but I have assembled the following list of parts. I am ordering all of these off of a Japanese site called Kakaku, so some of the parts may be Japanese versions, but I have chosen the ones that were well-reviewed and popular. Listed after some components are additional specs.

  • CASE: IN WIN IW-EM002/WOPS
    MicroATX
    2 x 3.5in bay
    2 x 3.5in shadow bay
    2 x 5.25in bay
    190x350x380mm
MOBO: Asus M5A78L-M LX PLUS
CPU: AMD FX-6300
GPU: GTX660 (Size: 111x241mm [Height x Width])
RAM: Kingston 8GB KVR16N11/8 DDR3-1600
HDD: Western Digital WD10EZEX 1TB SATA600 64MBcache 7200rpm
SSD: Silicon Power 32GB MLC SP032GBSS3V55S25 (for OS)
BD: LG Blu-Ray 16x BH14NS48
PSU: Corsair 500W CX500M CP-9020059-JP (Size: 150x140x86mm)

Total cost: 81,000JPY, or about $800USD

Questions:

1. Am I going to have heating problems? Do I need to buy a fan, too?
2. Newegg voltage calculator said I needed about 424W, so will 500W be enough?
3. What about the +12V rails and all that stuff, do I need to worry about that?
4. Do I need to worry about getting "shielded cables" because my case is so small?
5. Any other comments/tips before I order this stuff?

You should be all set! As a long time small form factor builder I can tell you that shielded cables are a ripoff.

Only big thing to not is to scratch the blu-ray player. In order to watch blu-rays, after paying extra for a blu-ray player, you have to pay to buy the software that is licenced to watch blu-rays, and that software is almost universally buggy and a pain to deal with.

Consider the dozens of other, often free, ways of getting HD content on a computer and blu-rays become ridiculous for a PC.

@Dan
I think it does come with a fan, if not, I'll just run to the shop and grab one. Thanks for looking it over!

@Dark
Thanks for advice! I might skip the Blu-Ray player then, I hate dealing with proprietary software, especially licensing software. I'll stick with a DVD burner.
