I have always been an Intel guy, I know they last, that's for sure. These new FX AMD's are a little bit impressive, far higher up on the passmark charts for money to performance comparison as usual but now also overall comparison. The extra heat omitted from the AMD can always be remedied w/today's heat-sinks, arctic, etc. The only thing I can see is current programs are just catching up to the 8-core tech. I THINK I'll stick with Intel because of it's higher single/dual threading capabilities, but the AMD's are tempting now. I wonder if they last as long due to all that extra heat. What do you guys think about the new FX tech.? Worth it?

Are we talking about gaming or apps? Because if it's gaming...

Yeah, uh nope.

Apps? Eh, same 'ol, same 'ol. Read the review. It it's heavily threaded, it'll do OK. If it's lightly threaded, it'll bomb.

Hey

Budget performance cpu = AMD
FX are good nothing bad in those.
8xxx series don't even beat i7 4770k, guess you know that

If you got enough $ to get an i7 4700/k go for it, other AMD's don't match to it

Oh yeah, 9xxx series, well, the answer is the same.
You want some serious good perfroance in rendering and stuff, the i7 is your chosise, don't look at those AMD's unless you are saving some money and you have a lower budget
