VGA Monitor, Only DVI-D and HDMI Port

Hi guys!, I have a monitor with that is VGA, and on my PC I have a VGA Port but that is already taken by my first monitor, so that leaves me with a DVI-D Dual Link and a HDMI Port, I went to the shop today and the shopkeeper told me that I was unable to convert VGA to DVI, so would I just be able to get a VGA to HDMI and would that work? Thanks, also if someone could move this to the Graphics and Display section I would be happy.

is it DVI-D or DVI-I
D carries just digital info, as does hdmi
I carries digital and analogue info an so can be converted.

Hi I went to the shop and I was told that I cannot convert VGA to DVI-D because one is analog and the other is digital.

you can't convert dvi-d to vga, it carries no analogue signal.

so i dont understand what do you want to do???
do you want to use the dvi-d from your pc and convert it to vga monitor connector???
you have two monitors connected on the same pc?
