Micro SD card readers keep breaking? Could it be the card?

Basically I have a micro SD card I want to get data off. I bought a card reader that read various types, and tried fitting the card in. It wouldn't go in until I figured the right way out, when I did it wouldn't show on my computer. Anyways, the light on the card reader signifying it was on, kept going on and off? So I assumed faulty reader, ordered a new one off amazon. This was JUST an SD card reader, a USB one, plugged it in and it worked. Then my nephew turned power off on the wall, and it was still plugged in. The computer rebooted and it stuck on loading (guessing because it got confused as it may have been a storage device) and I took it out, rebooted and slotted it back in when it came into windows. Nothing, and the light on the side keeps going on and off? I took it downstairs and put it on my other computer and it went to install the software, then said there was an error and it couldn't. It won't show up in my computer on that desktop either, any ideas?

I tried plugging it into diff slots as well to make sure theres enough power and thats not the problem, I took the sd card out, plugged in the reader and the light stays on. I put the card in and the computer lags when I click the drive, then it goes off and it can't be found again/light goes on and off lol
