So i do special effects in after effects and i was just wondering how much ram would be best. I'm building my first pc and i want to know if 8gb is enough or if i should get 16gb? And second question can i get 2X4gb and then later just add 2X8gb? (my motherboard has 4 slots)

More about : ram effects

If budget allows I'd go 16GB (in 2x8GB if mobo allows, less stress on MC (memory controller)....As far as 8 now and 8 later, it's not a good idea to mix sets of DRAM, even of the same exact model, it can be problematic, and often is

I generally go with GSkill, occasionally Corsair or Mushkin, don't often see problems with any of them, Gskill tends to have OC headroom in all sticks, which is indicative of strong sticks that will last. Look for lifetime warranty
