HI,

I was wondering whether I should be overclocking my 4670k. I have tried 4ghz at 1.2 volts and went back to stock (I got scared that it would screw up) at that clock I had temps of about 35 degrees Celsius idle and 45-48 at load. I predominately do video editing but play the occasionally game like Far Cry 3 and BF3. I have great FPS in any game with no lag at all. When I am at stock clock I can render a 720p video in Sony Vegas Pro 12 in 15minutes. Would an overclock allow me to render 720p quicker?

My System is:
Intel i5 4670k @ stock
Asus GTX 760 2gb DC2 OC
Zalman CNPS90F CPU Heatsink and Fan
2 x DDR3 8GB (2x4G) G.Skill 1600MHz PC12800 Ripjaws RAM
ASUS z87m-plus
Cougar RS750
Windows 8.1
Samsung 840 Evo SSD
WD Green 1TB
Zalman Z11-Plus case

45-48C on load is a great temperature, you should be worried when your CPU reaches temperatures over 85 degrees. Yet, an overclocked CPU in terms of gaming I would say not much of a difference. The most difference is going to be noticable at benchmark results. In terms of rendering, yes, an OC'd CPU would be a benefit for a faster rendering speed.

So when I am over clocking in the uefi bios what do I need to change? I know that I nerd to do something with the multiplier. I feel that I might have done something wrong the first time I tired. Say if I want to clock at 4.3 or 4.2ghz what would I have to change?

Ok thank you for those links. I was looking at my temps before I oc'd and I noticed a problem. AI Suite 3 told me one temp whilst intel extreme tuning utility told me another. Which one is right?

I benchmarked with stock settings and hit temps of 74degress max. http://hwbot.org/xtu/share/44113

Although intel tool was reading in the 70 degree range speed fan and all other programs told me that I wasn't even over a temp of 55 degree.

Edit: after running the test again and monitoring with hwinfo I concluded that the temps shown from Intel were correct give or take a degree. I was watching the Linus video and he said that the optimal temp should be 80 and below if I over clock to 4.1 at 1.24 volts I would get temps over 80. Correct me if I am wrong. Also how do I change best answer as I didn't set it on this thread it happened automatically.
