Ok, so im upgrading my PC, and decided that I want to use my XP500 turtle beach headset for game audio, to do this, I learned that I had to buy a sound card which would support digital output SPDIF. I went and brought a ASUS Xonar DG, as it supported digital, after installing the card and the drivers, it comes up as multiple devices in my devices list. the problem is, after plugging in the XP500 digital cable to the sound card and the reciever, no sound comes through my headset. I know that the card is installed correctly because i can plug jack into it and hear sound through my speakers, just no sound through the digital output, any help would be appreciated here guys, and I apologise in advance if this is the wrong category to post this under :)

control panel, sound, playback, find the Asus digital output and right click on it and select default playback device.

Close any programs that you had open and try to play the sound again.

Also, most MB's have a digital output on them, sure yours didn't and you bought a sound card for nothing.

Is there more than one Asus device listed? S/PDIF should be the optical/coaxial digital output and speakers will be for speakers or headphones only. Also ensure the volume is turned up and not muted.
