Hi can someone tell me of any software that I can use to connect several of my computers together, over my home wifi, so that I can share files and folders across them.

I have this folder with a bunch of textures, my brother is an architect but he cant really render alot so I have this folder of textures that I want to share with him. He can put in his files in this folder as well and I'll recieve them. Then he can choose which textures he wants and save it in a text file.

I know windows homegroup and workgroup is an option but for some reason it doesnt work AT ALL. I've tried every solution possible but nothing, nil, nada. I would like to use some software to do the same thing that windows group does but hopefully, better and easier.

I know there are a lot of remote desktop softwares out there but I've only seen file transfer on them and not just real time access to folders.

Thanks for any help.

PS I'm on windows 8.1 and my Brother is on Windows 7.

I remember working with windows groups when I was at school (IT-education).

Windows groups would at some point simply not detect eachother, then suddenly for 5 minutes they would detect eachother, but then they might not be able to connect to eachother.

Generally I would do my best to stay away form windows groups.

If you want a easy way to share files withing your network, setup a NAS.

Both computers are on the same wifi network, file and printer sharing is on. Password protection is off. But still neither sees the other one.

Check the firewall setting on both computers as well.

That in the first place means, it is a network problem of some kind and a different software will not solve it. Please tell us something about your network, like the router type, the way your PCs are connected to it, the ip-addresses (fixed or dhcp) and so on.
