How much wattage does a phone use while it's charging through USB, would it be enough to have an impact on the parts and cause a crash? I know this sounds like a stupid question but i'm wondering about this.
no usb ports are low wattage ports. they run off of 5v of the system but are not high amp like a video card. most phones and ipads dont use that much voltage to recharge when plugged in today. on a pc build it the 12v line that the cpu and gpu are on that you have to watch out for. a power supply not only has to have the wattage on the 12v line but the amps rating for the gpu and cpu. some cheap power supplys will say they have x amount of wattage on the 12v line but have low amp ratings.
