Not to mention the settings. Turn of V-sync, turn down effects and similar things. Use the "fast" option. I do even though i don't need "fast" at all. I like it.
It could just be that your PC can't handle minecraft that well. Apparently it uses alot of CPU power.

Minecraft needs hell loads of CPU. Minecraft doesn't even need the best GPU. I hope my answer helps.
