I have been getting errors on my Nvidia 8800GT with rainbow picture, so I have opened it and am on the fence of what I should do Should I cook it in the oven or is there a better way. NOTE: I don't care much if it brakes, as I know there is risk, I just want to try to fix it.

Thanks for any help.

Missing capacitors isn't a big deal? If in doubt just replace it. Almost anything you buy now is better than the 8800. Heck you can get a decent (better) card that works for ~$100

Well is the 8800GT better than the intel Haswell Pentium integrated gpu?

Its a 10year old card it could have many things wrong with it. Just aged capacitors could be causing enough of an issue to present artifacts. This will not be one of those learning sessions as its a very complicated piece of hardware that will take some very good diagnostic skills and tools. most shops wouldn't even touch this as it will cost much more to repair than its worth. Trash it, buy a new card, and then learn on something simpler.

you are kidding right?

" It also seems to be missing 3 capacitors, but that can't be a big deal."

you want to fix an electronic device but you think a capacitor is not important? sure. bake it. burn it. hit it with a hammer. throw it in a creek.

what do you have to loose?
