i upgraded my gfx card and the computer started to shut off, not a typical hardware error or BSOD, just like the plug got pulled. i picked up a new PSU and everythings fine. what im wondering is, althought the OCZ that failed (?) only has 1 12v rail, there are two feeds that are not modular (hard wired alon with the 24 pin connector and the 8 pin cpu pwr) and those were the ones i used, would it more evenly spread the load to use the modular 6 and 8 pin PCIe connectors rather than the hard wired ones.

Solution
If the PSU only has a single rail it won't matter which PCI Express Supplementary power cable is used since any devices that use +12V power are all connected to that one rail.
