MSi R9 270x smells like burned rubber, plastic and/or silicone?

the smell is terrible specially in a small room... since i've installed the msi r9 270x, iv been smelling like burned tire or some sort of burned or toasted plastic. the graphics card was running at 53 degrees Celsius and my wife is ranting about it... is this normal? have any other experienced this? im also having trouble with the bsod since installing it. any solution?

What you're describing definately sounds like a hardware failure of some sort. You either have a faulty fan or faulty circuitry on the board. How long ago did you get it? You definately need to take it back to whatever store you got it from. I had an xfx one of those cards and I can tell you it is not normal. Take it back and get a new one.
